I'm all for creativity and interest in our game. However, one thing that I haven't seen addressed yet is the issue of copyright infringement. The Vsets are guilty of it, and so would any custom sets. That's why we ask for donations and then give away free sets once the cost marks have been met. For the sake of the interested parties, just make sure that no one profits from the production of the cards. Technically it is still copyright infringement, but there is no real reason to enforce it if there's no profit. (I'm sure that those who have studied the situation would have a better way of explaining that, but that's been my take on it.)
Like I said, creativity should be encouraged, but are you sure you'd like to invest a lot of time and money into a venture that will never produce a tournament sanctioned piece? If the majority of the games you'd play with them are with people who also use such creations and you all are comfortable playing games like that, then more power to you...you are putting more people at the table playing and I think that's great. But...if you are looking to generate interest among the general Star Wars Minis playing population then you may be disappointed.

As for people like me, we already can print our own cards at home ourselves, to play with as we want.

everybody is expendable. There isn't a single part of it that couldn't be taken over by someone else. Quality is variable, but all it takes is effort. Its actually the willingness to commit to it that is the key factor.
