This looks like mini's from heroforge.com. They make custom non-painted mini's for around $25. I understand that they need painted and I wouldn't mind a nice $15-$20 paint job, but $60?

I play with lots of custom figures that I've either won, done myself, or have had given to me. I value these pieces, and have customs from the best in our game. I can't think of a figure that I'd drop 60$ on. Check Lily Wan's customs in the Customs section...she is one of our premier custom creators both in quality and imagination, and you never have to drop 60$ on any of her stuff.

+1

This is what I am talking about. I don't begrudge someone from trying to make a little cheese in this world, but I also don't mind calling someone out that is not doing anything different than I what I can do. The most expensive mini on the market is Revan at around $80 and that is a Licensed and Original mini. These are aftermarket mini's. There are others in the game, Lily Wan referenced above, that are trying to keep the game alive at a reasonable cost. Koby, anyone can give Hero Forge a picture or a design and create it for $25. Sharing that, like leshippy did on SWM Facebook page, is helping the game stay alive. I find it amazing that people ask for opinions on this page and then scoff when an honest (even if it is lacking tact and personally I don't care) opinion is given. Donations are what are keeping this game alive. If the Vset Team charged $40 on top of shipping for the cards, would people "keep the game alive"? I donate as much as I can. Maybe $30 here and only $5 the next time. I keep the game alive by not trying to exploit it. The point is there was no disrespect or childish motives behind it. An opinion was asked and one was given.

@Caedus,
Thanks for sharing in a more expansive way, and for bringing in
other options for value - such as other places to obtain minis or
the fact Bloomilk runs on donations from awesome folks.
You raise a lot of food for thought there.

The main thrust of my final 3 paragraphs was,
not so much in telling folks how to consume eggs; how folks speak is their own concern.
More as a reflective moment;
"there's ways of saying things, and ways of saying things".
someone's gotta play 'devil's advocate' BigGrin
I made a lot of mistakes when I first made the jump to Bloomilk from WotC,
and posted in the wrong places etc...
Hothie and folks were kind enough to point to the Code and show me around, and I'm glad they did BigGrin
Bloomilk is usually a lot of fun for folks everywhere, and completely unlike other tabletop gaming websites out there
take for example, DakkaDakka, DevArt (sometimes), CoolMiniOrNot...
elsewhere, folks often stop at "it's shite",
without that crucial constructive criticism feedback.
If beauty is in the eye of the beholden, I want to hear from the beholden,
and also folks that dislike whatever, for the 'why'; so as I can improve for next time.
How else do we get an answer, find a bit of motivation, or improve,
if we don't get the "why" along with the observation "it's shite"?

Will I want to get these envisaged mini set? Probably not, due to being a Clone Wars era fan.
Maybe there'll be something in the future, and I'm always fascinated to see what customs other fans come up with.
No one is holding an implement to anyone's head -
we're not coerced or obligated to obtain those minis.
We're completely free to obtain - or refrain.

Is the value proposition as presently envisaged, with the information to hand, 'attractive'? not particularly.
This has probably been a reality check in terms of 'what the market will bear' for folks, no doubt. BigGrin
there are so many options on market (as observed in that first post where I "misunderstood the minimalism").
That's how these things tend to work - reverse lowest bidder, to find the cost-effective win win.

I'm still uncertain of how Sunderland723 envisaged making the end product;
via a third party from off the shelf software (such as HeroForge, Makermini, Shapeways, GoogleSketchups),
via a number of third parties using custom-made .stls (as in, not from some options slider, but perhaps meshes made in ZBrush or Blender etc)
or maybe an in-home process of some kind, such as with Form+1 etc...
This'd be great to hear more about, maybe in a thread over on Customs Fora?
I seem to recall hearing that other customs had been made, for heroclix and such - that'd be great to see also

@Darth Jim,
well said BlooMilk
the 'cut and reposition' or mid customisation is awesome;
there's a lot of subjects that can be made using that, and it's one of the best value propositions for folks wanting minis.
Lily's are indeed a fine example of custom minis done well.

Yea I'll be doing various more sets many will pertain to clone wars. Some miniatures will be created using the hero forge platform while others I will produce myself completely from scratch. In regards to the second set I will be focusing on the light side and bringing many favorites in that haven't been seen yet using various resources. The third set I will be focusing on misc...bounty hunters....mandalorians....and others not seen yet. I am also planning at the end of each set including the first to do some sort of poll/fan favorite and the one with the most votes I will mass produce it and for a cheap price for anyone that may be interested. Like I said I am here to create bad ass mini's for myself. If anyone else is interested then I would love to make bad ass mini's for the crowds as well. I am doing what I can to keep this game alive not only doing this but probably being the most annoying person to FFG and WOTC ever.

Here is the third prototype of five. Darth Malgus. Keep in mind this is just a prototype. Many details will be added aka darkness, breather mask using scultping materials, wrinkles, redness in eyes etc. This is just the rough prototype.

Frankly,
I am uninterested in those at this time,
primarily owing to a lack of interest in the subject matter itself
(not a fan of pre-Prequel sith)

This will be interesting to see what else you come up with,
and some photos of the physical minis you've made elsewhen (I seem to recall it being discussed that custom Clix had been made in the past?)
maybe even a glimpse of a screenshot of how the minis are made,
a peek behind the scenes as it were - to if these are made meshes from the ground up,
or even the slider dials from existing 'off the shelf' options,
and a little into how to do that... it'd be swell to see.

although, "virtual minis" are also pretty neat,
for folks that have limited space, or cannot otherwise get 'into' minis.
Folks could turn such virtual minis into animations too maybe?
sorta like the "Virtual Lego" stuff, neat concept BigGrin
