Shinja, you did a great job setting up the search feature in the first place, and I think it really only needs a few minor changes.ThumpUp
I use just about everything (overall, usually not all at once), except gender. The gender feature is pretty much irrelevant and could be removed, but I think everything else should stay. I know some people have said that base size could be taken out, but I think it should stay because it can often be important. Granted, most people know the base size of all the minis, but it is still a somewhat helpful search feature. People have also said that the "Is a Commander" and "Is subject to CEs" overlaps and the latter can be taken out, but I disagree; commanders are still subject to CEs as long as the CE they are benefiting from effects "allies," not "followers," so both of these should remain as well. I think an "or" feature (for instance, "has this Force Power or that Force Power") would be a great idea, and I really love the idea of a "Living/Non-living" and a "Race/Species" option.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

Species and Living are already ready to go in the new version. ThumpUp

Adding an "Or" option for Special Abilities and Force Powers is more complex than it seems at first (from a user interface perspective).

Say you want characters that has Evade or Stealth, that's easy enough to picture the interface for (2 dropdowns). Say you want characters that have Evade and also either Mobile Attack or Greater Mobile Attack. Then you need to group Mobile Attack and Greater Mobile Attack somehow to show that they are the "Or" condition for the search. Now, how about you want to know if they have Evade or Lightsaber Deflect or Lightsaber Reflect or Soresu Style or Soresu Style Mastery. That's mixing Special Abilities and Force Powers with 5 different "or's".

These situations don't even take into account "does not have" abilities and Force powers. Or cases where you want to know if they have 1 combination of 2-6 powers and abilities -or- a different combination of them.

Does anyone know of a site that has a complex search filter like this that allows for "Or" conditions? I'd like to see how someone else has done it, because I'm having trouble.

Yeah, I guess I really didn't think about that... I took computer programming with Java in 10th grade (two years ago, and I don't remember any of it now Blushing ), and doing "Or" options like this might not be too difficult to program, but it might be harder to incorporate into a website, especially when the character database is so large. If you can figure it out, though, it would be really helpful.
