Re: Chiss Captain

That is a very potent CE for unlimited range. I would have thought Range 6 would be sufficient.

Also, that CE is going to be fun Yam'ing/Conning.

I was thinking the same thing about stealing it.
As far as non-Unique Fringe followers, at this point there isn't anything too scary that will benefit.

I've always wanted to play around with a Bloodcarver swarm for the fun of it. This guy would fit very nicely with them.

Supreme Overlord Quoreal is most displeased with this Chiss Captain, lol.

The Aayla looks pretty sweet.

Chiss Captain in an IMP squad with a bunch of Rodian Raiders, new Thrawn, Palp on throne, and General Veers could be pretty potent.

The Chi-ptian (Think Chekov's prononciation) is Ozzel's/San's best friends.

My first thought was Echani played with Atris, Yularen or Mit'thrawn and the Chiss Captain.

that would be a pretty good combo, especially if you throw in Ozzel. Especially since they could still get cunning from jabba so it would be a garuanteed +10 damage just a situational +4 attack.

Who's looking forward to Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith - his name was revealed on SHNN tonight - according to hints from Lou, he's awesome and costs either 68 or 72 points.

Not me! I'm fed up with darth vaders and lukes. WOTC doesnt own this game any more, we don't owe them one per set.

None of the Imperial Vaders are hitting the top tables much - Lord Vader made the finals at the weekend, but that was an exception to the rule. It was confirmed on SHNN that it's Imperial.

There are 13 Imperial Vaders (not counting reprints and the Epic) - and since KOTOR in mid-2008, we've only had 3:
- one who's just about the cheapest Vader and who's mainly used to bring 501st Rex into Imperials
- one who's a weird commander/attacker mix (Legacy of the Force)
- one who's mainly useful for his Stormtrooper enhancing CE.

I think it's time for a shiny new beatstick Vader.

None of the Imperial Vaders are super good though - they're not really hitting the top tables much - Lord Vader made the finals at the weekend, but that was an exception to the rule. A new top tier option would be good in my book. It was confirmed on SHNN that it's Imperial.

i hope its a defensive orientated version to Darth Vader Jedi Hunter, with a CE (Swap???) and a piece that gives off more synergy to the grunts of the imperials. That would be cool.

i Dont See them putting swap on a vader, even if it was revan swap because of thrawn. Thrawn is a jack of all trades for imps already and if you throw in a swapping vader i think it would just push it too far. Now a movement breaking vader (master speed or Greater mobile.) Maybe would work or a beatstick vader would be fun as long as he can at least partially defend himself.

Revan swap on a Vader WITH Rival (Thrawn) could be a possibility. :)

There are a few things to keep in mind:

1) No, we don't have to do a Vader and a Luke once per set, but they are fan favorites. Seeing Luke and/or Vader helps get new people interested in the game a LOT more than seeing obscure EU characters. I've heard a lot more comments along the lines of "Oh hey that's Darth Vader, awesome! This must be a Star Wars game." then anything similar to that about Atton Rand or Jarael.

2) We are also making very different types of pieces for those characters; for example, the last Rebel Luke made before CotG comes out was back in Cantina Brawl, and he was a cheap shooter representing Luke from ANH. Also, there wasn't a Luke or Vader at all released in Scum and Villainy.

3) As for Vader specifically, the last version of him made (not including Epics, of course) was in RaR, V-set 2. There have been 3 sets between now and then. Also, that was a commander Vader, this is a beatstick Vader. The last beatstick Vader was made in KotOR, which was released almost 5 years ago. Also, the only really competitive Vader is still Lord Vader, which was released in BH, a full 7 years ago. Vader DLotS is going to be an alternative to Lord Vader; LV will be better in some ways, but DLotS will be better in others. It's something that has really never been done with Vader before.

+1 ThumpUp
I was about to to say something very similar though not nearly as eloquent. (though not the the part about what this Vader does I don't really know that yet BlooMilk)

Interested to see how Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith is against Luke, Hero of Endor

There is still room for, and interest in, a Pilot Vader that focuses on that aspect of his character with great Pilot synergies. Black Squadron Pilot would be a nice non-Unique addition as well.

And can we finally get a Vader with Youngling Hunter (+4 Attack and +20 Damage against enemies with Youngling in their name)?

I think its a good argument, but I question whether, at this point in the game, we should give up on trying to hooki in new players, and not focus more on keeping the players we have.

That being said, i love vader and luke, and have no problem with one per set. Just was making a point.
