Love the new Aayla Secura. It is a real winner. These are the pieces I look forward to playing with. I waited for this piece for years. Perfect in everyway. BRAVO. Please more of these Vos and Secura type pieces. Yea it does nothing for the meta. But it does a ton for flavour/competitive squads. These pieces will always be fun to pull out.
Cheers

Wow, Speed 8 for Covenant is awesome! He will be very fun with the Consular and Shadows, and he isn't too shabby an attacker himself!

The only thing I disagree with is that it does nothing for the meta. Aayla is very aggressively costed and will see play at top tables

I really like how they added the Bespin Guard Captain. Gives you an opportunity to grab ol RS Lando from the bottom of a bin somewhere. Good job guys, and keep great ideas like that coming.

It will not be Playable until after gen con i believe which is August 14-18. That is usually about the time they release the sets. and since they try ot to have to ship to many because of gen con.

43. Chiss Captain cost 16
50 HP 16 DEF +7 ATK 10 DAM
Double Attack Backlash [This character can move and then make all of its attacks against 1 enemy who has already activated this round] Deceptive [+10 Damage against an enemy who has activated this round] Recon [Roll twice for initiative once per round, choosing either roll, if any character with Recon in the same squad has line of sight to an enemy]
CE: Non-Unique Fringe followers gain Backlash and Deceptive.
I didn't think Echani Handmaidens were scary enough yet anyway.

I actually don't think the Chiss Captain does that much for Echanhis. The best Handmaiden squad has for a long time been this:
Mitthrawn Atris 3x Echanis Jabba CL Mas Veers with 17 points leftover
You can't really put the Captain into those last 17 points, because that leaves you with no door control whatsoever. Yeah, you get +10 Damage against activated characters, but you'll be spending most of your time shooting at unactivated stuff anyway.
Yeah, you might be able to come up with a Handmaiden squad that uses the Chiss Captain, but I definitely don't think you'll get anything better than that squad.

That Draay I don't think is very good. He loses the big triple from Krynnda, so I'm unsure about his design. Just waiting for some decent OR pieces for competitive play.

He still gets Mettle to make sure he makes the Dispassionate Killer save, he has Speed 8 and a very solid Command Effect. And there are many competitive OR pieces. OR has done well in regionals the past few years (winning several and at least one Gencon I believe.)

But this version is pretty strong, and the CE is definitely very good. I think Covenant is solidifying nicely.

Re: Chiss I don't think 16 points it would be a waste on Echani. You are getting Recon and +10 damage. That would not be an optimal return. I see him either with Alto Stratus-Sep squad or on those pieces with Double Claw attack (Talz Pirate or Rak-Warrior). Of the factions, only Imps have activation control and access to Extra Attack (Ozzel and Vader-Legacy) to fully utilize Backlash and Deceptive.
