So far IMO we have 2 viable options to use against these squads, mando the vindicated and H/k Droids oh how fun a meta that would be.... Yeah, Stealth and Blue was definitely built specifically to beat these pieces. Naboo and Lancers too. Oh, and Lord Vader Black and Blue. LOL, DANIEL THAT IS FUNNY..... Of course not those squads were around before these pieces, but that does not mean that the squad is not designed to beat these pieces now. If you run naboo and lancers after set 4 good luck to you is all I can say, with the amount of stuff in there that will be good against those squads you would be a fool to run them, as far as lord Vader goes... what did he do last year in the Meta.... ALMOST won A(1) regional........ great showing by him for one that is suddenly oh so good....

Sidious wil have problems because he is down to three big attacks. Luke is init dependant. Ummm, Sidious can lightning for 100 50 top and 50 bottom of a round and move 6.... not really attack dependent...

Sid is a little tougher, but don't see how he changes it much either. He might do well at a tourney or even win a regional, but I don't think he is better than any of the other pieces/squads we have out there. We have such a wide open meta right now that I think almost any squad could win. run them, run sidious in a serious game with a serious squad and see how he does then let me know, that is the point of this thread.

For everyone that is replying that has not played these pieces (Daniel) play them before you pass judgement on them. You have not even seen them in action in serious games, only at gencon with subpar squads, please don't talk about what you don't know, I have played them and am concerned, get back to me with your games and lets talk this for real.

Yes if sid can outactivate then yes he is really, really good. But against a squad running act control he just doesn't have enough acts. (Seps, Imp, Reb, NR, Vong, and even some OR outactivate him). In that case he becomes much, much worse.

And here is the heart of my thread, we don't know if Sid even needs act control with parry and evade, heck he might just need to be paired with the anakin chosen one for 27 points for a 110 hitpoint bodyguard, I don't know that is why I asked people to test these pieces out and give feedback, because I think it is a legitimate concern, if no one else does, then just ignore this completely... but if you want to argue with me, the least you can do is test the piece not theories....

Unless you are running no support, a squad with a 100 pt figure cannot hope to outactivate other squads. Even with Dodonna and Ozzel, they just can't. If they are facing mid costed figs, that can afford to lose one, they will be overwhelmed. I've played these types of squads before. The fact that these figures might have a chance, does not mean they are going to wreck the game. 150 HPs can go surprisingly quick if you aren't lucky. Also, Sidious's Rapport only applies to character whose name CONTAINS Darth Vader, it does not apply to any Anakin Skywalker

Except he can't because Darth Sidious does not contain Palptine. Nor does Anakin Chosen One contain Darth Vader.
And I did play with Sid some during his initial creation (not sure which version) and wasn't overly impressed with what he did.
I'm not sure what you precisely are playing with him, but I assume Thrawn/Mas/Ozzel so we are at 151 with 4 acts. Add in Lobot (who probably brings the amanamin and 2 others) so we are up to 178 and 8 acts. You can fit 7 more 3 pointers in for 15 acts and still only 1 attacker.
And yes, this can certainly destroy some squads. But so can alot of other things.
Take Lord Krayt for example. Krayt can do alot of cool things but has a very similar problem to Sid. Once you actually track him down, it is all over.

I haven't really looked at Sidious. I don't like how GMLS was summarily replaced, and for that reason the new Luke is probably my least favorite piece in the Vsets. But we already had another big thread about that principle.

Here is what I view their biggest weaknesses are.
Sidous is weak to being swarmed. Especially at range. He has issues dealing damage to more than one piece, which at his point cost, means he will be outnumbered. And if you are facing non-Jedi, it drops even more. Mace is already building the popularity of Droids. He will have serious Damage output issues against my Darktroopers, and I am seriously curious about how the OR Droids and IGGY squads shape up.
Luke dominates Melee. No question. Just like Grandmaster Luke. While his damage output is better than Sidous in most situations, he is much weaker at range. A barrage of shots will take him down. He does have a range attack, which is extremely helpful, no doubt. But that leaves his defense wide open.
This leaves a lot of big beat squads vulnerable to them. Which, from what I've gathered deaths_baine and shmi15, is what is popular in your play enviroment. Which is something to factor in, but is not the end all arguement for figures being overpowered. I loot at what I saw at Gencon, at V4, and even what is in V5, and I'm not worried. There are ways to beat these figures, and a lot of them were quit popular already.

I have not seen anything get close to killing this Sidious, and after last night that includes Old Republic, and Mando the Vindicated squad, sure sidious only got a 2 point win on the Vindicated but a win nonetheless. As far as luke getting shot to death he has a commander effect that allows adjacent force users to be his bodyguard, so you can actually handle shooter heavy squads simply by letting another piece take the damage and spread it around. Like I said I don't know the best squads to run with these pieces yet, have not ran them enough to have that narrowed down, but I would think that with a 22 defense lowbacca bodyguarding him with lightsaber defense and MoTF 2 most shooters would be hard pressed to take him down.

I think a squad type that will be rough on these guys will be bomb squads. Poggle and Nom bombs being tried and true, but Sith bombs is something I've been looking at. Especially with the new Krayt. Or gang up and then use Kaan. I'm quite curious to see how things evolve.

My squad against the BH Challenge pieces at Gencon (I played vs Sidious) was Vong with a Quednak, Shedao Shai, 2 JHs, a Hunter, and backup. It utterly stomped the Sidious squad in 15 minutes.

I just hope Vong get good enough to be viable at a real tournament. From what I have seen, they will be :)

There were actually multiple different squads featuring the BHC pieces as each player who was playing the BHC piece was allowed to make their own squad.

So, just witnessed an interesting match tonight. Bronson had never played against the Sidious, so we made a sub-standard Sidious and placed it against an anti-Sidious squad with Cad Bane, Corran Horn, Klat Capt, and r23po. It was a very good game, but as soon as the NR lost act control, the game was completely over.
So you say all of his weaknesses are a good shooter who can base him (Cad Bane), a good Melee beat (Corran Horn) Act Control, (Dodonna) and out activating him, ( IMps army had 14, NR had 15) AND even had 7 mice to wall off any attempt of Palps to get a good swap. In the end, Palps was STILL to much. At one point he was based by Corran, attacked 3 times, parriede each one successfully, then was able to evade all but 1 attack by Cad Bane! 7 attacks by 2 VERY GOOD ATTACKERS, and only 20 damage to show. All in all, he was attacked about 13/14 times, and only 2 shots by Cad Bane connected.
This piece is extremely tough to bring down with COMPETITIVE squads, and couldn't be beaten even by the best player in our play group ( Ultrastar/Bronson)
When will this madness stop and when can we write these pieces off as awesome/ fun ideas, but not legal for 200 point play?
With Much Love, Shmi15
