Darthbane53's Supreme Overlord Shimrra: looks like a work in progress needs some cleaning up but not bad 7
CerousMutor's Overlord Shimmra, Destroyer of the Gods: This guy looked great until I noticed Emplacement (I understand that it is because he is on his throne) Why would anyone want to get adjacent? Yeah he basically get Evade against those who are more than 6 away, but all you got to do is move within 5 and shoot away. Still some great ideas. Glad to have you in the contest CerousMutor! 8
Cassus fett's Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane: Only a single attack but man can it hurt! I like the CE as I 'm a fan of giving the Yuuzhan Vong an attack bonus. Perhaps overcosted. Puppet Of Another is an interesting reverse Camaraderie. 9
Lord_Ball's Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane: Few abilities but got the point across. I really like what you did with the CE! Great combination (Callous helps too) I think his HP is too high but with no crab armor I understand what you were going for. (I think he could have used the VCA and lower HP IMO) Glad to have you in the contest Lord_Ball! (I hear good things) 8
SignerJ's Shimrra, Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong: he seems balanced to me, nothing is out of place (I like Backlash!) I am so shocked you used Wookiepedia!Scared Wink Scepter of Power looks like it's mainly a flavor SA (like Chewies Breath Mask and Artillery SA's might have a use but are mainly just flavor) If he also gave an attack bonus he would have got a 10 as is 9
markedman247's Shimrra, Supreme Overlord has got some good stuff on him like GMA, Doctrine of Fear and his CE giving Dying Breath (great Idea for a SA!) and bonus to attack. Some thing keep him from getting a higher rating like: Supreme Authority, while Flavorful, just limits the faction too much (they don't need that at all) if you are gonna negate ALL other CE's his better be pretty freakin awesome. Also I would've Increased the amount saved by his rapport. 9
Pegolego's Shimrra of Domain Jammane: A younger Shimrra, nothing seems out of place here. I like Doctrine of Fear, Ruthless and Ritual Scarring. I really, truly like The True Way, it is simply the BEST thing here in terms of flavor. However, It is another limit to the Faction (though I already limit the faction by this rule anyway Flapper) CE isn't that strong but I understand since this is a younger version so his CE wouldn't be that strong yet. I would lower his cost slightly IMO 9
Saber1's Shimrra: Love your uses of Overwhelming Power, Sceptor of Power, Intimidation and Puppet Ruler! (I don't think Puppet Ruler is all that overpowered, though it is really strong!) His CE is awesome! It will definitely help the Yuuzhan Vong get adjacent quickly (with a cost) Great to see a bonus for the Slayers too. 10 and you get my vote!

I'm about to leave for a 2 day vacation so no time to review everything, after looking at everyone I'm going to say Pegolego wins my vote

Time to vote. As I've said in previous weeks, everyone put forth some great effort. I enjoy seeing the differing interpretations of characters and as a customizer, the constructive feedback I receive is important to the improvement of my future creations. Thank you all for participating!

Darthbane53's Supreme Overlord Shimrra
Like others, you've bumped his HP up dramatically but have wisely resisted the urge to include VCA. Overall, this piece feels very unfocused. He's like the swiss army knife of damage bonuses, able to kill Grievous in 1 turn, possibly 1 hit with the right support. He can target and kill his own troops, but I don't see any benefit to doing so. The CE, thankfully limited by SO, would be much more clear with rewrite. The same can be said for Sacrifice (a cool idea, btw). He brings some thematic elements to the faction, but nothing new. I don't see a faction weakness being addressed. My score: 8

CerousMutor's Overlord Shimrra, Destroyer of the Gods
This had the most Shimrraesque name and therefore earns kudos because of it. I see you've gone for a Shimrra on Throne thing which makes it the most unique entry in this week's contest. I dig DBC, and you took my advice on adding a movement mechanic which makes him more interesting. The thing with Emplacement pieces is there must be 2 key results: I must want to take the risk of playing the piece and the reward for the risk must be great enough that the opponent will want to engage the piece. Palps on Potty succeeds because he is realitively cheap and has a killer CE. This piece is extremely expensive with a CE that doesn't appear to bring much to the table. As a result, I fear the opponent will simply leave this piece alone and pick off the other 102 points of the squad. Even set up in a bottleneck that earns gambit from turn 1, I see this piece as too easily ignored. Palps can be ignored as well, but he is 1/3 the cost so I don't see it being nearly the issue with him. I really want to like this piece because it is a very cool concept, but I think it needs a rethink on the CE, and a much lower cost, to pull it off. That, or a mechanic that forces opponents to come to him. My score: 7.5

Cassus fett's Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane
The CE, while not inspiring, fits the flavor of the character well. It is unique to give such an imposing and expensive character a single attack, but look out for that one attack! Attacking a Jedi on the move results in a big dent, but a single attack leaves him vulnerable to being completely neutered by a character with Parry. Puppet of Another is definately the signature ability of this piece. I very much appreciate the synergy it creates with Onimi. Given his cost of 66, I feel either Double Attack or Twin Attack is warranted. Without either, his output is subpar and drags down his score. My score: 8.5

Lord Ball's Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane
The abilities are all appropriate. Where you lose me is the 250 HP. Breaking with tradition isn't necessarily bad, but I feel you've wandered a bit too far. No other character, including epics, even comes close to 250. Even Darth Bane only has 200 and he is priced at 82. Combined with Parry, I just feel he is too over the top, even with a modest 19 defense and no ranged protection (save for bodyguards). My score: 7.5

SignerJ's Shimrra, Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong
Every special ability is difficult to argue with. You've picked things that are accurate and do not create any negative synergies. My only gripe with the abilities is Sceptor of Power. As it is limited to YV, it will be rarely used and thus feels unneccessary. At the very least kill the save to make it automatic. I'm not thrilled to see another Shimrra with 180+ HP, but you've prudently shaved his Def down to an easy-to-hit level. The CE can make for some fun Savage builds, though from a purely CE perspective, I might opt for Celeste Morne for less points. My score: 9

markedman247's Shimrra, Supreme Overlord
At first glance, I didn't know what to think of this piece. The base stats are spot on and all the abilities are great, save for Supreme Authority. It replaces Nom's CE with an inferior version, but then it also gives +4 and Long Shot. +8/+10 at less than half HP is compelling, to be certain. I think it would have been much simpler and cleaner to drop SA and the last part of the CE, then adjust cost accordingly. However, as a pure melee beatstick, I really like this piece. My score: 9

pegolego's Shimrra of Domain Jammane
I'll review this piece as is (post edits). The base stats look solid and I think all the abilities are fitting for the character. The CE really captures the character. The True Way is something long overdue for the faction so I'm glad to see it here. I'm still not sold on the Large base, but I understand your reasoning. You captured the character very well, though I would have liked to see the Yuuzhan Vong's leader bring something innovative to the faction. Still, a solid piece. My score: 9

Deathwielded's Shimrra Jamaane, Puppet Overlord
This is the only piece that stuck close to the vset's base stats, though like pegolego's entry, you opted for a Large base. Again, I'm not sold on this, especially with Melee Reach 2. I'd chose either and ditch the other. The rapport for Slayers is great, as is the synergy built into the CE. I still have grave reservations about giving them Force points though, no matter what retcon might be floating around. Like your nod to Slayers, I also appreciate the encouragement to play Onimi, as a Dynamic Duo no less! Kudos! Control Terrain is a cool faction-specific Override. His damage output feels light for the character and cost. If his base Dam was bumped to 30 and his base was dropped to Medium, he would be extremely fun. My score: 9

Vote forthcoming...

Sounds good I can Make those changes now originally I had him as Medium base but bumped him up to large as that was what the consensus seemed. I created the character to be medium and didn't re-balance him after that change.

Well I got busy over the weekend and forgot to vote, so I guess I'm disqualified. Thanks for the feedback, as a side note I really wanted my version to have Parry so he would be a bigger threat to most jedi (Mara Jade, Jedi can still tear him to shreds), but that would be too much with VCA so I opted for incorporating VCA into bonus HP.

I'll still go through the entries and rate them later this week when I have more time.

several of us have been rather busy (that's just life!) and didn't get to vote or finish voting or submit a character (missing your work Corranhorn...Sad) so no worries, this is just for fun. I would hate to see someones life get ruined cuz they were spending more time on here then doing the more important struff.Smile

A word about my piece: Shimrra, Supreme Overlord.

I had him originally large base and redid it. Supreme Authority is powerful and was something I always wanted to see on figurehead. I always find it odd to see Palpatine's or Krayt's boosted by underlings. His cost once reflected this as being low 60's/high 50's. So, I created it. The CE was to be larger. I had an LoS activation control of 2-3 if this unit could see an enemy. It kept crashing the creator.

Dying breath, although similar to Nom Bombs, was a software patch that reflected the dirty tricks they used of poison even on their death beds.

I hope to review everyone else's later today if I have all my work done.

That came into question during my design, and I decided that, with Large, MR2 wasn't necessary, and keeping it off saved space.

Looks like you got me this week; I'm sitting second I believe (tied with Saber1's... or since we have the same amount of votes placed (8, 9, 10 and 9, 9, 9), who exactly gets priority? The 10 I assume?). Not that it matters; I liked your Shimrra, and I think it deserved to win! ThumbsUp BlooMilk

Darthbane53's Supreme Overlord Shimrra: 7
A high cost single attacker with a overly-complicated CE, I like the premise though.

CerousMutor's Overlord Shimmra, Destroyer of the Gods: 7
Dovin Basal Control does too much unrelated stuff for a singular ability for my taste, for one I would suggest dropping the damage avoidance from it and changing Shimrras armor to a save 11 - as is he has 2 free abilities to avoid ranged damage.

markedman247's Shimrra, Supreme Overlord:8.5
Seems pretty solid, Supreme Authority might limit his uses since the Vong need all the help they can get and nerfing allied CEs (though fitting) kinda defeats that purpose.

Deathwielded's Shimrra Jamaane, Puppet Overlord:8.5
I like the slayer boost, but not sure I like him granting Omini bonus abilities - to me it should really be the other way around.

Cassus fett's Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane:7
I obviously like Parry on him, but feel Parry+VCA is too much. A bit heavy on bonus damage.

SignerJ's Shimrra, Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong: 8.5
Solid representation with only 1 (practically useless, but flavorful) custom ability. Poison +20 might be a bit much.

Saber1's Shimrra:8
I think Puppet Ruler might be a bit over the top, since it removes the movement restriction and grants a bonus turn - if it was only one of those I wouldn't really have an issue with it

Pegolego's Shimrra of Domain Jammane: 8.5
Solid representation, but also nothing that really stands out about him for me.

All things said I'll cast my final vote for markedman247

Ok, its go time. This is a tough call, as usual. There are aspects of every entry that I like. I imagine the vsets amalgamize 2 or more good versions into 1 great version, which is what I want to do here. As the leader of the YZ (ok, w/Onimi pulling his reins) I feel Shimrra should bring something new and powerful to the faction. As the biggest YV ever, he should also smack most melee pieces around. As a player, I'd like to see synergy with a few of his key players that might be considered subpar currently. To me, none of the pieces nailed all three areas and I recognize that is a tall order to fill! However, if I had to run one piece as is in a skirmish this weekend, I think I'd chose Shimrra, Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong (SignerJ).

First, he gets a bonus of .0001 points for the longest name entered. .Flapper Second, he has an accurate suite of abilities that compliment each other. A situational Triple/Poision +20 on the move with base 30 damage is accurate and balanced. While the 180 HP is pushing the upper limit of power creep from the vset version, the 18 Defense brings vulerability and therefore balance. The CE, arguably the most original addition to the faction in this contest, draws a necessary comparison to Celeste Morne. This I noted above, but 2 things still make him compelling. First, its a cool CE that allows for a Savage-heavy focus w/o a Force user. No Jedi Hunter for you! Second, he allows for Savage in a faction-specific build which is great for themed squads. Had this CE been a spiced together with pegolego's (Savage gain Merciless +10) it would have been spot-on accurate to the flavor of the pieces involved. Finally, having a Medium base makes him much more desirable to play than a Large.

*Deathwielded: Your entry was very, very good, but I had to vote based on the piece I reviewed. At the time of my review (after voting began) it had some issues that I addressed above. In the interest of a fair and managable contest, I am compelled to keep my review/rating/vote as is. As a fellow player, rater and custom stat creator, I highly appreciate your receptivity to my input. With the changes you've now made I feel your piece is fantastic.

I'm late but I will do:

MM247: I know the guy and he owes me money. Until he pays, no review.

DB53: it needs a bit of work. I get the "kill ally" ability. Nothing like an ability to off a MTB. I also like the Sacrifice ability. I would like to see it be a Vong specific version of "Hunter's Blessing." Still looks like it needs some tweaking because he looks like he's 1 hit for 30 (with bonuses) but a bit costly for that. 7.5

Deathwielded: Positive: MR2, Rapport for Slayers. Negative: Onimi getting boosted (Flavorful and fitting but it might be very complicated to work out), Slayer's boost (Simple Regen 10 might be more fitting just for the simplicity)
8

CM: Positive: Dovin Basal (I like the idea but when you made him an Emplacement, I would have said "Shimrra on Throne" similar to Palps) is a facet that I haven't seen before. Negative: Emplacement and High Cost. It appears that you tried to make him epic but not an Epic. I would lower him a bit and make him mobile 7.5

CFett: Positive: Puppet of Another is interesting but could be worded as a Comraderie. Always a fan of poison. Negative: For his cost, he only hits once. So, he needs another attack or twin. Sure he could hit for 70 on a living Jedi (Curse you, PROXY) but maybe a trim to 20 and twin.
8

SignerJ: Positive: Simple, straight forward killing machine. Nothing overwhelming but seems very playable. Negative: Scepter of Power seems a bit... situational. It's almost like "Execute Order 66" but with a save. A definite NPE for the unlucky Vong Player.
Solid 9

Lord_Ball: Positive: This guy is the definition of tank. High HP and Parry. Very nice. Negative: Callous and the CE. I like the "fail and die" CE's but not when they they boost their boss... directly. (We've seen the Fail and Die work well with Bombs)
9

Pegolego: Positives: The True Way (needs some wording tweaks but perfect. Take that, you mouse droid heathens) and Merciless/CE for Merciless (I languished between Merciless and Long Shot both for a while). Negatives: Not that much to say. I am not a fan of Large minis without significant movement breakers as MOST are put in the dustbin of obscurity but it fits him. If I had to pick an issue, it's the low attack even with DoF (that sounds familiar). 9.5

Saber1: Positives: Big, beef beat stick. Could hit for 19/30 with master shaper tacked on. Negatives: Puppet Ruler is nice but powerful in my opinion. I would have made it a targeted "Weak Willed" for that power.
9.5

And since, I was late to the voting booth, my votes don't count. So, hopefully the winner will pick something fun *cough* Guri *cough* and I can try this again *cough* GURI GURI GURI *cough wheeze*.

Anyway, thanks for the opportunity.
