First off if anyone wants to argue about them being Rebels . . . remember the first movie crawl called them "Rebel Spies" Which is kinda weird because they technically went "Rogue" and disobeyed orders and did their own thing... ehh like Rebels? Yep they are definitely Rebels.

base 10?
umm....
He killed everyone in one shot. Why does he have a base 10? His gun was massive...
I do not understand that one bit.
I can feel a legendary Jen'ari dialogue coming. One of Yaddle size.
I will wait for more on him. Maybe it is because he only killed stormtroopers and some of them have 10 HP?

Definitely following this thread, base 10 is weird but maybe it's his rapid fire mode? And he has an ability to epic one-shot the much beefier Deathtroopers

It sounds like we both think it's too much in one ability. I think (mechanically) would be fine if it were ONLY SAs, (not force powers) it countered and didn't do anything g to commander effects. You could slice through evade and shields, but lightsaber defense and force bubble still work. Wait a minute . . . Didn't we just create that new ability?

I say be happy with this Baze regardless.... I almost guarantee another one will be made just in light of this thread and the excitement people seem to have towards this character. I like the idea of having a Rogue one Baze, who fits thematically with a Rogue one squad. Maybe the next one will be a "Keeper of the Whills) (spellcheck) Baze, who works with a Chirrit who is also a Keeper of the Whills. But saying that. are we guessing at things he can do? or are you just revealing it slowly?

So Baze has a toned down version of Suppressive Fire?

A Big Thank You to those guys! shmi15 wrote:But saying that. are we guessing at things he can do? or are you just revealing it slowly? People are guessing about Baze and I'm revealing his official stats little bits at a time... General_Grievous wrote:base 10 is weird but maybe it's his rapid fire mode? Ding! Ding! Ding! That scene where Baze comes out of nowhere and blasts away a bunch of Stormtroopers! Then later he goes on a death march and takes out Death Troopers who were like the most Elite Stormtroopers ever seen. Heck yeah, we gotta represent that! Pin-Point attacks? nah, it only targets lower cost characters w/6. Baze didn't run up to say hello to stormtroopers. Predictable Targets? Humm...maybe... might work . . . Blaster Barrage? I know he was a Keeper of the Whills, but was he a force user? That seems like a stretch ... Furious Assault? That's a crazy good ability! 43pt Separatist Cad Bane has it and he's super good. Rolling Fire? Does that represent him?, meh it involves a save 11 just to shoot the next trooper... nah. Let's send Predictable Targets out to playtests . . . Result: He was somewhat effective at killing scrubs and low HP troopers hitting each for 30 damage each. Unfortunately, he was not very helpful against Unique enemies and such. Let's try Furious Assault . . . Result: Holy smokes! He's running around smashing everyone with a +16 attack and higher damage output than 43 pt Cad Bane... and they were giving him TWIN!!! He was doing 60 damage on everyone. He's was way better than Han in Stormtrooper Armor and too overpowered in a Rogue One squad! Furious Assault felt like what Baze does in gameplay but he's ridiculous with Twin. Does he need to get Twin with Double and Furious Assault? Without Twin he's Doubling for 60 damage and running out and hitting everyone for 30 like we wanted. But there's even more boosts in Rebels he could get... Dang it!.. maybe Furious Assault won't work. We like the Han in ST Armor comparison of him being another Armored Rebel Furious Assaulter... made sense. Wait ... if we give him Single Shot Blaster we could give him Furious Assault and never have to worry about him being OP or restricting future design from inadvertently boosting him. let's try that... Playtesters love it! He works great, he mows down troopers and scrubs and punches Unique enemies with a reasonable amount of damage. He's great in Rogue One and he's really good in other Rebel builds. One guy ran him with Kanjiklub Gang Member and did a Furious Assaulting JOlt! Wow, should we let that happen?... Meh, we nerfed twin... nah, playtesters seemed to like it. Baze was ran in 3 playtests focusing on just him and then played in 2 or 3 continued playtests. Feedback was positive! So far . . . donnyrides wrote:need some Imwe love, Protection +10 Yep, yah got it! "Who are they?" "The Guardians of the Whills. Protectors of the Temple of the Kyber. But there's nothing left to protect, so now "they're just causing trouble for everybody." ―Jyn Erso and Captain Cassian Jeron Andor Baze has lost his faith in the force but still wants to believe. Chirrut is his friend and the last connection to his old life, Baze must protect Chirrut! Protective +10 [+10 Damage while a wounded ally whose name contains Chirrut is within 6 squares] Designers want to make awesome new pieces people will want to play. However, if all they do is replace old characters and fuel power creep, we end up with Broken /NPE squads. We have to be super careful about increasing the power of Teir 1 squads! That's why Subfaction, Camaraderie, Rapport, Rival, ect.. are a designer's playground. So, it's ok to make Baze even better than a Han in ST Armor while played with Chirrut Îmwe. Also, "name contains Chirrut" leaves Baze open to work with any future Chirrut characters. So let's also do... Synergy +2 [+2 Attack and +2 Defense while an ally whose name contains Chirrut is within 6 squares] So far . . . DarkDracul wrote:Rebel Baze Malbus Dam: 10 Special Abilities Unique. Jury is out on synergy until we see base stats. I think the going rate on a good shooting unique is about Attack 10 Defense 18

Nice! That will help with the damage lots, especially since I'm assuming Chirrut is primarily melee and they'll both be charging headlong into battle.

donnyrides wrote:Jury is out on synergy until we see base stats. I think the going rate on a good shooting unique is about Attack 10 Defense 18 Ok, his base stats. Increasing his attack by combining fire is always an option. There's his synergy +2 attack with Chirrut . . . Artoo is an easy +2 attack Ackbar gives +4 Princess Leia can give him a +4 attack & +10 cannon shot Also, bear in mind we haven't fully explored Rogue One. So even with a +6 attack he could get >10 attack pretty easily. He was a tank so his Defense should be decent right? He can always use cover for +4 defense but he can also get cloaked from Threpio. He can also could be given Evade and Greater Mobile Attack. Also there's the +2 synergy with Chirrut to get over an 18 defense. So even at 16 defense he's pretty good. But Han in ST Armor has 19 defense and stealth! So why wouldn't we just crank up Baze's defense? Perhaps Baze is just tankier - guy wears special tactical armor. In reading about his equipment, it's unique and assembled by Baze himself. It's not Mandalorian Armor or Dark Armor or any regular armor . . . Baze comes from a force based religion and has access to ancient force imbued artifacts. Regardless, of Baze's force sensitivity it's thematic and appropriate that his armor be special. Force-Attuned Armor [Whenever this character takes damage, he reduces the damage by 10 with a save of 11]

6 and 16 eh? That is very interesting, seems low especially to hit those 24-28 defense stormtroopers in cover but maybe there are some more perks coming. The armor is sweet and fitting though!

well it is good to see that his attk will be where it should be. fact that so many boosts can occur sucks because it takes away from his character. His attack should be a base 12 or 13 in reality.
