Hi DarthJak Thank you!!!!!! i have checked it and written one back . Hi Squelch It's definitely a fun game! the rpg sounds cool and we have some of the books but have had more fun with the miniatures skirmish to try the rpg yet! Hi StevenO She sounds like she is worth the risk though! I was thinking if i played against an experienced player who knew what she did would he be scared of combat with her if i managed to get Dark Lady in where his figures are placed? My Bro does it with Obi Wan and it definitely scares me anyway lol. I will have to look up Admiral Thrawn on Bloo Milk, i must of got confused when looking at the figures, you are right about Luke when he became a sith apprentice he wore black robes instead of armor. The rpg sounds amazing as well in the core book and i thought it's cool that it lets people use all their figures instead of leaving them all in boxes! Do any of you guys put like Rancors in your RPG games and use the Rancor miniatures? I got the idea from the force unleashed game and thought it could be good to do in the rpg with people choosing to run away or try and fight them maybe Thank you everyone and happy new year!

When it comes to Thrawn remember there are two versions of him which share several key similiarities but also a few big difference with the biggest, to me anyway, being the price you'll pay to get him. If you are interested in the StarWars RPG the current version is SAGA from WotC (the same people who put out the minis.) Now this really isn't the place to talk about the SWSE RPG, it is a minis site after all, but don't be afraid to head over to the RPG forum at Wizards: http://community.wizards.com/go/forum/view/75862/135522/star_wars174;_rpg_hq where you will normally find plenty of help for your RPG questions. When you do visit I would ask that you use search before blindly asking a question. If I had a Rancor mini you'd better believe Rancors would show up in my RPG sessions more often. The RPG is a bit more complex than the mini game but you also get more options that way as well.

You're not going to be competitive in DCI with what you have so far. For home games, I'd ignore faction rules and play light-vs-dark. Here's a good split for your pieces:
--AMS55 Light-- 55 General Obi-Wan Kenobi 33 Deliah Blue 16 Bothan Commando 13 Clone Trooper Commander 13 Galactic Alliance Scout 11 Dug Fringer 11 Galactic Alliance Trooper 9 Clone Trooper 7 Twi'lek Scout 7 Ugnaught Droid Destroyer
(175pts. 10 activations)
--AMS55 Dark-- 51 Count Dooku of Serenno 33 Emperor Palpatine on Throne 23 Noghri Commando 20 Sandtrooper Officer 10 Super Battle Droid 9 Trandoshan Mercenary 8 Sandtrooper 8 Security Battle Droid 7 Duros Scout 5 Stormtrooper
(174pts. 11 activations)

Hi Flying Arrow you guessed my exact Dark side squad that i used lol!
Hi StevenO thanks for the link and i looked up Thrawn and saw also a figure off him with the Ysalarmi which would be useful against force users but would be risky like Dark Lady as the Ysalarmi could affect your sqaud force users.
Thank you for the link to the rpg i will join up now!
Hi Mandalore Da Beast :)

Cool glad your having a good time. I have some RPG books, but we have gotten more into the minis. Faster and doesn't take as long as the RPG, not that RPG isn't fun, just that you get more time playing mini matches. I have a link someone gave me to a Mini RPG for mini's I'll look for it you guys may like that too.

If you are interested in a few more Maps i would suggest taking a look at the Attack on Endor Pack. It got 4 Maps and 3 of them are DCI legal. It also got some Imperial Minis in it. With Palp on Thrown i would focus on Imps first since you already have a really useful piece for them.

SWM Campaign Edition Short Description: SWM {CE} is a custom ruleset combination of elements from both the Star Wars Miniatures Game and the Star Wars Role-playing Game. You can get it here. It's at the HolocronI had a post at Wotc but the site won't open for me. I was looking around at other site's and found a link to this. It's not the full blown RPG and is a little bigger than Mini skirmishes. Looks like a cool blend. I've read some of it but haven't tried it out yet.

Thank you Squelchdog, Sinister and Yggral! I will have a look at the Attack on Endor map pack, my brother is trying to get Darth Bane for his own collection but said he will let me use him as well. I have been having more fun with the skirmishes but my brother has been having more fun with the rpg but i will show him the holocron and try it.

[quote=Mandalore Da Beast]well as far as a DCI game goes, you will never be able to use General Obi Wan Kenobi (he is a banned piece)]
Please forgive the noob question, but why is he banned? I am not sure if or when i will ever get a chance to play in any actual tourneys but is there a place to see wht is banned? Do they post any videos of tourney games online?
Thanks K4

treads lightly because of GOWK question
he was banned from DCI play because he cost to little for his SA and CE
cowers in corner waiting for fallout

Please remember: GOWK is only banned in DCI tournaments. Feel free to use him in casual play. ;) (although, a lot of players will throw a hissy if they see him across the map...)

DO NOT bring up anything on here about if he should be legal or not; that has been tried plenty of times before and nothing good has EVER come of it. You can use him in casual games though.

Well to answer your actual question, instead of bringing up past threads that got out of hand, he was banned from DCI play in June of 09. The basic issue is that he is too good for tournament play, but more importantly, it's because he breaks a fundamanetal part of the game, that is making attack rolls. And in a timed game (not necessary to see the issues), he was nearly impossible to kill with attacks. This meant that squads designed around playing the game, could no longer compete, and you had to tailor your squads (not in the normal "meta" sense), but to the few figures in the game that could do direct damage. As a result, easy counter-counter squads were played, and these dominated the counters. Tactically, you could try to kill the support for GOWK, and ignore GOWK winning on points and running, and squads designed to do this were in fact played. These dominate the "counter GOWK" squads and if the player could beat the GOWK by subverting the concept of the game, then they would win tournaments. Further, beating GOWK depended too heavily on luck, much more so than the game normally allows for. Strategy was being heavily downplayed and replaced with die rolling. This is a very bad thing for a competitive game. So have fun with GOWK locally and as you learn. Nothing wrong with playing him, or against him. It is only in tournaments where top tier builds are run that he becomes broken. As for other banned pieces, there are none for competitive play, he is the only one at this time. You can go to the DCI website http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dci/doccenter/home for the floor rules. This would always contain any banned figures, maps, etc for SWMs. As to videos of games, the only thing I know of is the Final match of Gencon was taped online, and it's probably available somewhere, although I don't know where the link is at the moment.

Only one other ban besides GOWK. That is Boba Fett bounty hunter in dynamic duo. For all other game formats, he is legal.
