I hate to perhaps be the jerk here, but people donating money while nothing happens only encourages nothing to happen. Why would Shinja give up any control of the site when he still has cash flowing in for doing nothing?

People - stop giving money unless an update happens!

Then perhaps he will let us strike a deal, once he knows he's not gonna make another dime until something happens. This way he can make his last money on it and wash his hands by selling it or he can start updating again and making money again.

No more donations until something happens!

And I repeat. IT IS NOT THE MONEY. All these threats and promises about donations means squat. All the money in the world is not going to give Aaron the motivation he needs to update the site, if other things are more pressing. I haven't talked to him, but I assume most of his time with the game only involves this site. How much energy would you have for a hobby that has turned more into work than fun?

As for someone else to manage the site, Shinja has been very protective of the squad builder. You will notice that the site only has 2 Admins, Shinja and his wife. I know he has refused to share the coding of the squad builder when someone wanted to create a similar site for a different game. The fact that there may be some streamlining of the process is pretty big.

And finally, I know everyone is impatient. But this is the first real delay in the input of the stats since this site went active. I know everyone wants to play with the new toys. But, I think Shinja deserves a bit more patience and understanding than what has started to pop up.

+1. Its His site. If he's got Real World issues to deal with, leave him be.

exactly why I made the post I did. Stop throwing your money away, people.

Shinja either is going to start updating again or not. He will sell the rights or not. He will give others access to update or not.

Save your money to go towards making a new squadbuilder site. Or adding one to SWMgamers. Or rewarding Shinja or whoever takes over bloomilk for getting rolling it again.

I am very grateful to Shinja for this site and the squadbuilder and have donated up to this point. If he is done with it, then I wish him well and we need to start making plans on how to continue.

This is about being practical. Of course other things happen in life, and that is fine. But there are many who are active in this game and use squadbuilder regularly. It is effecting the community in a negative way, so there should be a discussion as to where to go from here.

I think we should explore the option of getting someone to design a new squadbuilder. We can do a kickstarter to raise the funds to get it started with the contingency that active members will have access to all the coding so we can make sure it is continually updated after that.

No disrespect meant to Shinja. But this long with NO communication does warrant the conversation to be started of where we go from here.

doesn't mini manager have a squad building function as well?

or what about the old swshoebox? It may need updated but it was also a great squadbuilding tool long before the milk.

Maybe we just need to dust off our old toys rather than build a new one.

+1. You should all be grateful to Shinja. If it weren't for him, you wouldn't even have this website.

I haven't been doing stats updates for the mini manager and distributing them for the hell of it. Wink
(well, I would do 'em anyway, but Razz )

As to contact with Shinja - I've been in touch with him a number of times since August. He intends to keep the site running and keep adding new sets, so as Sithborg wrote above this is the first big delay we've had.

I'm not out of patience yet, but these threads are making it a bit harder.

To coin a phrase, "Hoky smoke, Bullwinkle". Just looked at mini-manager again, for the first time. WOW. Lots of stuff there. My one problem was the small type-face. Guess I'll just break out the 'ol glasses for these aged eyes and update/use it. This thing has MAPS on it.

Lets Give Shinja a break! I'm sure he is a busy man. Many things come up in life. To be honest, Its hard for any of us to keep up with Fun things. I'm not sure Its a ton of fun for Shinja running things at BM. It has been more of a labor of love. Lets try and be positive if we can.

.... and there it is folks; if we Couldn't make contact with Shinja, I'd be worried. If he's alive and well, we all need to smile and nod our heads to life. Births, deaths, work, bills, wife, life, we could All name a million reasons why he's busy .....

I suggestion we all go paint a custom, use minimanager to build a squad, argue new V-Set characters, dice an opponent to death before he gets to Gambit, whatever else makes you happy. Me, I'll go make up a new card BlooMilk

I was under the impression that there had been ZERO contact with anyone - so this sentence alone helps me have a little more patience.

Does MM work with Mac? I was under the impression it does not.

It doesn't work directly. Requires a "windows emulator" program to play nice. There is a link to instructions to get it working over on Gamers. (on here too, but buried deep by now)

I'll try to dig up that post. I think it can be found somewhere on the SWMiniverse forums as well.

Keith's instructions for running Minimanager on Mac and Ubuntu (Linux) users 8-)

Mac: http://www.keithspage.com/swm/mmosx.html

Ubuntu: http://www.keithspage.com/swm/mmubuntu.html

Ignore the links there to minimanager and v-set add-ons. Get them from swmresources.com

2 downloads, 1 for the final version of the main program and the other is the v-set stuff. They are .zip files which windows should open, but if not grab 7-Zip, Winzip or a similar app to extract them. Check the readme in the v-sets file for stuff you'll want to know.

Shoot me a message if you need help getting it up and running.

All the epics are legal if you are playing an epic format.

None of the epics are legal in a normal skirmish game.

The Bounty Hunter Challenge cards will be legal in all formats once set 5 officially releases on march 1.

shinja is human, at some $$ amount he'll pay attention( the $$ needed is between $1 to $1,000,000 )

I'm done waiting
I can't play tournaments with out shinja's squad-builderBlooMilk
so I'll do what I've always done.

Why would you think we don't have his number? (rhetorical question)

Give minimanager a try. It's free, just like Bloomilk. (the glitches are free too ;)
