I am apparently the are guy whose wife knows pretty much exactly how much I spend on minis! And she doesn't care! I don't drink or smoke, I only buy one or two video games a year, and as time has marched on, the amount I spend on books and comics books has gone down considerably, so if I wanted to pop a few hundred bucks on minis a few times a year, it wasn't an issue. Mine plays the game, so she cant complain that much, lol. You sir, are one lucky guy.

I'm lucky if mine doesn't give the M.W.E.R. (Married Woman Eye Roll) when she hears my phone imitating R2D2.

Yo.
I'm 36, I have something like 700-800 minis and have been playing since mid-2008 (although I was given my first minis in 2005, but had no idea I had been given!).
CC, I sincerely hope you intend to collate these statistics at some point!

35 y/o, I live in OKC, OK in case that lures iny new potential players. I need to update my collection on Bloo. It is 4,000+ pre Targert sales era. I started when RotS came out. I stumbled on a CS starter and searched the web at Wizos and found my LGS as a place to play and at my first LGS tourny I bought a mixed case of boosters (half RS and half RotS - they had no CS that day and one of my first pulls was RS - Boba, I was hooked). My wife is cool with it especially since I have my three kids hooked and learning how to play. I have even started them their own set of minis and an account to track their minis as well. They have a pretty good set so far.

As an added note:
My son got me into the game. He was 8 yrs old at the time.
Now I'm trying to get him back into it, lol.

I'm am male couple days from being 38.
I have been collecting from about few months after rebel storm came out. Started playing regularly at the time of Universe because I found a lgs.
I have roughly 7000+ pieces in special tackle towers storage units that kinda match my furniture. I do not have all the promos or do I own any R&I. I have all the V-set cards to date. I have all the original WotC maps and I have almost all of JC's and Mapmakers custom maps. I have many of the downloads for maps that were posted on Holocron plus several that I was able to buy at cafe press.
My wife knows pretty much what I spend on my Hobbies. It was about $100-150 a month. Since the drop of the game it is now about $30-50 a month on games, video games, movies etc. Since I don't drink or smoke we have no problems with it.

I'm a male and only a few days from turning 27. I've been playing the game since RotS came out yet my playgroup (Cincinnati, OH) has jumped ship to Malifaux and the last real constructed local tournament (ignoring sealed and 1 regional) I played was in November 2009.

As a follow-up, my wife knows how much I spend and she plays as well. She's not big on the tourney scene, but used to play each release event we had. We've played each piece ever released against each other at least once over the years. She spends more than I do post-Target clearance on boosters since they are so fun to open. I think she has bought out the $4 inventory at three different stores now.

Wow I got more responses than expected.....I'll have to assemble some averages later but so far the average age seems to be late twenties to mid 30s and about 2 or 3 thousand minis
Both impressive stats

this thread will be right back after these important messages........... boys .....hiding stuff from your wife is never a good idea. she's gonna find out sooner or later, and then she'll wonder what else you're not telling her. don't keep your SWM spending hidden like some kind of weird addiction. be a man, for kriff sake, and be honest with her. I've been married over 26 yrs. It's best not to hide anything from the women you love. ...................we now return to the thread you were reading

Male, 34, Been collecting since about a week after Rebel Storm came out. Mini Manager tells me I have 1959 minis, although I picked up a few more at Gencon that I haven't inventoried yet. But not enough to put me over 2K, though I'm sure I'm gonna get there eventually.

Male, 26, about 2200 minis, started with the ROTS Starter box.
My wife was the one who found it and got me hooked on minis so the only person she has to upset with is herself, well kinda. To bad I can't get her to play though.

Well CC already knows me pretty well since we BM or email each other on a regular basis. However for those who don't, I'm male and just turned 40 last year. I started collecting when I found the RotS starter set in Walmart when it first came out. I became thoroughly addicted pretty much after I read the rule book. I then proceeded to hook my son and youngest brother into the game so I had someone to play with. We have our Bloomilk collection showing 2190. However I have 2 boxes of 150 mini's that I bought from 2 different guys on here that I haven't added in yet. That and a couple of boxes from trades I need to add as well. We just hit 90.38% complete. One oddity when we started collecting was the LGS's in Illinois at the time, didn't have any boosters in stock for a month. So I decided to buy several starter sets from RS, CS and RotS just to get some mini's to build squads with. They finally restocked thankfully. Another oddity was it took 3 years of collecting before we finally got our first Chewbacca mini. It also took 4 years before we finally completed a set. Now, 6 years and 2000 mini's later we are running out of room to store them in. jak wrote:this thread will be right back after these important messages........... boys .....hiding stuff from your wife is never a good idea. she's gonna find out sooner or later, and then she'll wonder what else you're not telling her. don't keep your SWM spending hidden like some kind of weird addiction. be a man, for kriff sake, and be honest with her. I've been married for 16 years and I made the new to marriage rookiee mistake of doing that with my 2nd edition D&D spending. Let me be clear when I say, it did not end well for me. <---- Squelchy, Mrs. Squelch ---> That was pretty early on in our marriage and I have since learned my lesson the hard way. We have since come to an agreement on that though. As long as I keep it within reason, and since it's a good clean hobby, I'm good to go. That and it means my son and I are spending quality time with each other. Oh and fella's, you may think your the bee's knee's with hiding it from her. Let me be the second one to burst your bubble and say your not. She will find out, and it won't end well for you either. So don't be surprised when she hit's you with some Sith Lightning of her own and burns you to a crisp. I have an entire entertainment center filled with mini's, not to mention 3 more large plastic tubs filled with them. So if your collection is anywhere near the size ours is. All I can say is, I'd only fooling myself thinking I was hiding my ever growing collection from her. If it's not small enough to hide in a shoebox, your only kidding yourself.

SquelchDog wrote:If it's not small enough to hide in a shoebox, your only kidding yourself. Yep, no hiding the collection. And there is a bunch of stuff on a shelf above that. I'm also sure she saw the price tags on the 2 blue boxes in the corner. So it's not really a secret, but the total cost is not something I bring up, not that I even really know.

(Oh, Swinefeld... I love how you just casually have a Rancor box down in the corner there...)
