Too bad it's a moot point when that massive damage attack misses or is negated by SSM. And 6 Dignitaries? I can't fathom using more than 3 in any semi-competitive game. Six is ludicrous. Of course the real travesty in that squad is the total lack of HPs. The only real beef is Palpatine and he isn't going anywhere. If he's not in Gambit, he can be avoided altogether. And here was my garbage GOWK build I used against it. GOWK Dash Rex R2 Shieldbearer Ugnaught x2 I wouldn't call that a garbage GOWK build . The only glaring difference between other builds is the Shieldbearer. I've seen different builds that have substituted in a Human BG + Uggies/MDs for the Shieldbearer. Needless to say, that GOWK squad probably tore right through his squad.

Didn't even have to use GOWK until the last round of the game. I just kept GOWK as the only target, with the shieldbearer behind him. 26 defense, plus 1 save on your side, and three on mine? Okay. sure.
He crowded everyone together like this D= Dig P=Palp N=Nyna W=Whipid J=Jawa
DWW DPPJ DPPN DJW
All adjacent, and all easily pushed away. Sure, I would've lost R2 to the Zap of Palps, but then next turn I would've based palps with Kenobi. Keep zapping, I dare you.

That group is just asking for Push. Now didn't you say he didn't place Palps in Gambit? So why were all his pieces hanging back with Palps then?

The last rumor I heard is that once Gowk is banned and people see the New Yoda they wont even miss Gowk..... all will be healed in the land. The Republic will still be powerful and Gowk wont be broken....

So is he or is he not banned? I for one would be glad to get rid of him, but I guess some players need some handicap.

Judging by the squad on page three, I think it is the Imperial Dignitary.

I believe the current rumour is the next DCI floor rules update won't exactly be GOWK friendly. Can't say I'd be complaining. However, judging by Dean's little hint above, the Republic might be getting GOWK v.2.0 in the new Yoda. A truly awesome but unbroken 55 point commander. I would not mind such a thing.

I am against banning.
I say we make him available to all factions.
My Ithorian/ugnaught army just became tier 1. Eat hot pig-nosed death, Yobuck!

After yesterday's regional I'd say there is no reason to ban GOWK. There were several out of the 27. The piece can certainly be beaten and in enough ways that you won't have to build the same way each time to counter his squad. GOWK did win ours but I attribute that to the players not the piece. I used him with a Kashyyyk Trooper/Rex build and saw him destroyed by Luke Pilot/Obi Unleashed pushes. Mandos shooters gave me alot of trouble also having to save versus several shots running my force out. Bad rolls will just kill you every time no matter how good the squad. That is one fact I love about this game--the randomness is enough to swing the tide of battle.
I really don't want to see anything banned!

GOWK friendly? what are they going to do? take off mettle? or ban him? I really wouldnt care but I dont like how people try to hide behind him all the time,

swmimperial130 wrote:[quote=Dead horse] I say we make him available to all factions. hmmmmm, how was Obi alive during the sith war? or the NR/vong war? I think they should just make an extreme counter force for every faction, like a Bane that his attacks are unstoppable or a GOOD Nihilus or a Redeemed Revan that does lots of auto damage, and every faction needs disruptive, to much adding, GOWK isnt imposable to beat, I beat him a few times(2/3 times, lost once sadly), I dont think they should make a GOWK for every faction, it would be unfair, I mean really everyone would do the same thing, it would get old real fast, I would quit if they made a GOWK for every faction.

Then they would make Dooku of Sereno to balance it out.

Not _a_ GOWK for different factions, just _the_ GOWK available to all factions. He's the Chuck Norris of Star Wars. He can go anywhere he wants, forward, backwards, or sideways in time. He's probably reading your post right now and planning on smacking you around just for speaking up against him. You better watch it. Alternatively, get in good with Revan, who's the Mister T of Star Wars. He can protect you.
