All of these: a. Troopers get a great movement breaker in Zygerrian b. Troopers get another great movement breaker in Charging Fire c. Troopers get +4/+20 damage from Daala's Prideful and the Charging Fire bonus d. Snowtroopers get a 3 point reduction in their cost from two new stacking Rapport e. Snowtroopers get +4/+10 damage from a new squad ability and an old one that is now useful due to (a) being able to fit in more troopers due to Rapport and (b) counting every ally as having the same name f. LIN and Buzz Droid provide good protection from strafe
For a snowtrooper, that's +8/+30 Damage, +18 squares to their range, a 43% reduction in their cost, and protection from the natural enemy essentially all at once. I guess the goal is to make them not-broken but still tier 1. Maybe removing Zygerrians would do that.

New one started. Honestly, I don't mind, but I guess some people might be missing this thread, since it's title isn't relevant to Daala. Once I get the official score, we have the final result from Super6 to add from last night; I've heard rumours that Daala and her little Raxus Prime Trooper friends blitzed Naboo Troopers in ten minutes.

Daala Raxus Prime over Naboo Troopers in 10 minutes? How is that possible? We are talking Death shots here right? With Panaka, Yularen and Amidala for mobile, opportunist and twin right? Roughly 25+ activations? I'm at a loss....

Its true, the game finished in under 10 minutes. The repulsar sled got to Mon Mothma in the second round and kez conceded knowing he couldn't trade pieces as well without death shot. Score was 200-4. 48 squares with the sled was what won the game.

That's just using the natural speed of the Repulsor sled too, no Zygerrian involved, right? Do you think the Raxus Prime squad would work without the Zygerrian?

it must've moved twice to do that.
2nd one was probably a charging fire + prideful for a 24 square 40 dmg at the start of the round.

Yup, got that, it's mainly me just thinking out loud, and vacillating whether errata'ing Zygerrians would be enough to cut down on the deep strike shenanigans. Snow Troopers + a Repulsor or two for deep strike, might be a fairly strong option, even without Zygerrians. Large base is a limitation on the Repulsors though, and I guess you have to outactivate for it to really work.

Without the Zyg the Daala squads are still very strong.
They don't have the naboo death shots but they have activation control, more activations, ysalimiri and some fast sleds.
The sled by itself is a decent deepstrike but its a sac piece because you are likely to lose it and if its the only pieces that can deepstrike it limits the effectiveness because as an opponent you should be prepared for it to go DS.
With a Zyg, you have no idea whats coming at you. Could be any one of a snowtrooper, a raxus or the sled.
Its just too much to prepare for.

Initial placement could solve that problem. Mon Mothma should not be exposed to shots in anyway. Hide her in a corner with a trooper in front.

He's got Flim for the extra shot though, in that build, and Needa for re-rolls. So even one Trooper wouldn't solve the problem, depending on initiative rolls. Ideally I think, you'd have something parked in front on the Repulsor at the end of round 1, so the opponent can't win kill the Repulsor in one activation, and let the opponent go first, then move the Repulsor 24 squares, kill the trooper, then get the second shot with Flim to nail Mon Mothma.
Kez has acknowledged in our group's Facebook thread that he did make mistakes - however, IMO that's a product of Daala dominance in NZ causing people to play squads way outside their comfort zone.

Obviously map could have contributed to Mon not being kept safe. As was previously discussed in this thread if you are going to lose a Commander in that squad it would be Amidala 1st followed by Panaka against a Daala squad. If you lose those 2 but keep Mas, Yularen and Mon you still have a fighters chance.

i think the real lesson here is that Daala has some real potency even without the Zyg.

I had high hopes of dethroning Dave and prepared fairly well. I needed a 2pt win to be in contention for a Top4 spot but a 3-1 or 3-0 win would see me though easily. After considering several options, I decided against Strafe (too fragile! if Dave ran Daala) and went with Naboo Troopers. Dave sat down and revealed... *da-daaa!* Daala with 15 Raxus Primes. I hadn't necessarily picked his squad, but I did know he'd go with something shooty.
I won map roll and chose Rhen Var. Dave declined to setup first and I chose the buildings end. He then setup to me. First round was positioning - my 23 activations to his 28 - but I made a couple of mistakes... I had 2 pilots which I pushed out too far and I also left R2 exposed. Dave was, with 2 Zygerians and Charging Fire, able to get a Raxus all the way into my side on Round 1 and get R2. Amazing. He also found a place to sneak his Repulsor Sled down the side of the map. He thought it was a risk, but it wasn't much of one as, winning intiative for Round 2, I couldn't get a piece to him to kill it with out having to roll 2 17s to do so. I completely forgot Speed 12 and Charging Fire and Dave, on the second activation of Round 2, charged into my commanders and killed Mon Mothma. Game.
Now, this is not a good example of the extremeness of Daala. Yes, she was able to allow Dave to setup and execute an amazing move... but it is more an example of me forgetting some abilities and how to lock doors. What I am concerned about, however, is how we in the Hutt have been warped by this piece. Mike Smuggler (who came to watch the game with Aaron/Sharron) asked me almost straight away: "Daala or Daala counter?" It has affected us in the Hutt so much that we're only running one of the two. Dave, after his lightning fast victory, commented that 'Daala is a negative play experience for the opponent and that it is also a negative play experience for the player running her' and there was then some light talk about how we may have to consider what we do with her at the Nationals.
Anyhoo - hats off to Dave. Well played and good luck in the knockouts!
(Kerry Logan Just want to say - it took me longer to write that than it did to lose.)

Dave 200 vs Kez 4 (12/2/14) on Rhen Var. Dave: Daala with 15 Raxus Primes, Kez: Naboo Trooper death shots.
That leaves the final standings as: Sharron 11 (5 games) Dr Daman 8 (5 games) - ahead on head to head TheHutts 8 (5 games) Darth Moore 5 (5 games) - ahead on 3 point win % Mike Moore Smuggler 5 (5 games) Kezzamachine 3 (5 games)
So Sharron will play Darth Moore in one semi, and Dr Daman will play myself in the other. I'll see what the other guys think, but since we have a major coming up next weekend, I think we might wait until after that to play our games.
Congratulations to Darth Moore, who's broken the standard 4 semi-finalists of Sharron, Dr Daman, MMS, and myself, who have all featured in the previous two years. Will Dr Daman or Darth Moore win for the first time? Will Sharron or TheHutts grab a second title? And, most interestingly, will anything stand in the way of Daala?

After a month's hiatus - we had HamilCon, then we were waiting for Daala errata, then I went on vacation - we had Hutt Regional Semifinals last night. I don't have the exact scores in front of me, but I think I'm remembering right.
In semi-final 1, Darth Moore beat Sharron 200-6 on Cantina. Darth Moore was running a Talon Kardde/Celeste/Rakghoul Warrior squad, Sharron was running Vong with Warmaster Tsavong and Fanatics.
I didn't see the game, but Sharron was complaining about his two consecutive ones.
In semi-final 2, Dr Daman beat me 71-45 on Jabba's Palace. Daman was running Celeste/Thrawn/2 Rakghoul Warriors, I was running Maul on Swoop Bike, Cad Bane Bounty Hunter, Rodian Assassins, Poggle, San Hill.
For the record, I had a decent chance of winning if Maul could have hit Celeste - he missed 7 consecutive rolls (needing 10s/12s - which I think is about a 1/128 chance...). But well done to Daman, who made the most of his opportunities.
Final coming this Wednesday. We're going to have a new champion for the Hutt Regional this year, as all three previous champions are out of the running.

They are quite an integral part of our local meta, that I haven't seen too much elsewhere. We do tend to see a fair few Nom Bombs and Geonosian Drones played, so they're a neat little counter to them, and I'm sure they're probably good against things like Naboo and Daala swarms as well.
In my game I had to pretty much use my drones only for initiative control and lock them out back, as once the Rakghoul party starts, it just keeps going.....

Darth Moore and Dr Daman have played the final - here's Darth Moore's report: Quote:Dave and I played our final for the hutt regional last week. We were both a little surprised to see each other playing separatist squads. I was playing new cad bane, aura sing, morrigan corde, ponda baba, lobot, san hill, poggle bombs and filler. Dave played speedy durge, cad, asajj, lobot, san hill and poggles.
We were playing on jabbas palace. I set up first, neither of us bought in the mtb, inside then Dave step up, both of us had similar activations I just edged him out. At the end of round 1 Dave sent durge up to the far end setting up for a killer first move. I locked the door next to him forcing him to go the long way round after he won initiative. He ended up taking out poggle and barely missed taking out san and lobot as well. I then killed durge, thanks to a crit from morrigan.
I then sent aura out to take on asajj, she managed to survive long enough to take out asajj the do some damage to cad. From then on i was in charge and the end score was 200 to 49. Congratulations on Darth Moore - he's definitely our most improved player over the last 6 months, winning HaweraCon 2013 and the Hutt Regional.
