1. No Booming Voice 2. No Act Control 3. CE's limit to 6 squares 4.Force Users opening doors within 6 squares by replacing attacks and 1 fp 5. Lightsabers are considered Melee. 6. 16 activation limit (any others after that are activated) 7. 200 pt squads 8. Shooters farther than 12 squares get a -4 attack 9. NO vong 10. Override becomes manual override.
things that I know of that are in contention:
Unpreventable damage I would say that force spirits/ghosts are considered living. Do we want to do anything with board-wide force abilities?

I would advise against creating any additional abilities that can shut doors. It's a very over powered capability...

Just a couple of thoughts here 1. Are characters with Booming Voice not allowed, or does the ability just not work? Making the ability just not work would probably be cooler, because you could then still use Boss Nass or Wyyrlock for their actualy CEs and stuff. 2. If I have a guy who lets me move more than 2 (ie mando tactician, Mar Tuuk, Tarkin, etc), are those allowed? Commander Effects or Special Abilities that allow you to move less than the normal amount of characters will be ignored. is the wording used for Epics and seems like it would be the most applicable here. 4. Is the door open permanently? like satchel charge? That would make the most sense for ease of rules and such. 5. I assume you mean adjacent attacks, or do you mean things like Lightsaber Throw or telekinetic combat? Just trying to clarify. 6. Again it would probably make more sense to just use Epics wording here 16 Activations Maximum (cannot go over 16 figures with reserves or reinforcements) It takes alot of the potential for miscounting and activating more or less than your 16 in any given round. 7. Is 200 the right number? or is it 150 or 250 or 178 or some other number? Making it a number different than the champs might be useful to get people to actually build new squads instead of just modifying existing ones to conform to this tournament. Or it might not. 9. Couple questions here. What about guys with Outsider? or vong with affinity like Ossus Guardians in an NR squad? 11. What exactly is meant by unpreventable damage? Are characters with those abilities not usable, or do we just ignore the ability? So no Overwhelming Force? or overwhelming Power? What about Flamethrower (or other abilities without a save)? Are those allowed? What about Makashi Style Mastery? Can I not use this since it can't be prevented by another ability (SSM)? This also nerfs the new Glitterstim dealer as well which may or may not matter If there is a singular ability people aren't wanting, might be easier to just make that one not work but not sure how people feel and what abilities are trying to be shut off. Other things to consider Map list? I would probably suggest sticking to the restricted list, but could easily see it being on the standard list as well. Bounty Hunter Challenge pieces (or the 100 point Revan)?

This event looks pretty cool, and I believe that many of the "regulars" would play in this event as well as many people who go to Gencon want to play as many minis things as possible that look and sound different than normal minis.
Just trying to put some things that I thought of down in order to get other the sentiment of the community as I know that even some of our other events with very precise wording in the descriptions get questions asking about the rules, and I wouldn't want anyone to think one thing and have it not work like they thought and have a bad experience with a purely casual event.
Forgot this one,
Should there be any prizes for this event? Or no prizes because it is a casual event.

@juicey the fact that the droid must see the door is a game mechanic. otherwise override would be completly out of hand. magic does not exist in the Star Wars universe

I guess I will flesh that out a little more specifically and than have you and others find any other things that need better clarifying

It's become clear that the original intent was not clear, and that's my fault. This event was intended to be For Casual players. We are giving them free reign on the rules to have it be THEIRS. We have every other tournament there that is for us, and certainly they can enter any of them as well. The whole point was to give them one, specifically for them. Us taking it over defeats the whole purpose.

why/how does it defeat the purpose if we are are playing by the rules set that they came up with and agreed upon? i would think they would want as good of a turnout as possible just like us competitive folks do.

Clearly people can do whatever they want. I just wanted to make my intent clear for starting this thread. Most casual players don't want to play me and Jason and Trevor and TJ. If they do, they can anytime. What they don't have is a choice to NOT play us in an open tournament. This was supposed to be that tournament where they could be free of us ultra-competitive players that make the game unfun. By definition (also coincidentally the title of this thread), a casual tournament is meant for casual players. If a tournament has all the best players enter it, it is no longer a casual tournament (read a tournament. If it's only a rules change, then it is an ALTERNATIVE RULES FORMAT. Anyone that wants simply an alternative rules format can start a new thread and discuss it to their hearts content. (No malice meant - just figure we should all be in the same page).

I guess I would no longer consider myself a casual player, then. The Only reason I have not been to GenCon is when it usually falls in August.
I would love to play in an Event or Tournament with these rules, but it isn't a rule set I would like to play weekly or even monthly.

Seriously, I don't want to be misunderstood -
ALL CASUAL PLAYERS ARE WELCOME AT ANY EVENT.
That aside - it seems like we are talking about 2 different things. Both are valid.
1. Casual Tournament FOR casual players, BY casual players (this thread)
2. A new alternate rules format.
Let's start a new thread for #2

Maybe I have missed something in these threads, but I haven't seen anyone complain about WHO is in a tournament. I mostly see that people aren't playing in tournaments because of the squads and NPEs and "cheesiness" of tournaments that make tournaments unfun for them. Makes total sense that someone wouldn't want to play in something that wasn't fun for them. Maybe some of the more "casual" players can chime in and give some clarification as to this aspect.

Either way, the more important question is who wants to play in this event?

+1! I would totally be down with any/all of these for a fun casual event. Can't promise that I can attend GenCon, but if I can muster enough money and put a Jedi mind trick on my wife, I would attend and definately play in this event. Awesome fun stuff and ideas guys! Love it! Very fresh, intriguing, exciting, and breathes life into SWM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
