I would gladly like to see a Q&A for the designers and that is why will be doing one at Gencon.

There is a lot of discussion that goes into a set list of figures.

I think one of the things lost at the moment is what does each set list bring to the game.

Would bringing a Vader to the Sith help the game overall?

Are the Sith and the other lesser factions still in need of things not addressed yet?

I am not saying the Sith will never ever get a Vader but right now is that thing that would help them the most? Do we do that to appease folks or do we continue to attempt balance creep for the overall good of the Sith Faction and game play?

I think that is where our thinking should be. Would a Sith Vader solve anything? or would it be better for us to put some Sith pieces into play that would continue to balance the faction out and make it even more playable at all levels.

All fair points.
Personally I don't think a Vader would bring or take anything away from the Sith faction because whatever a Vader was given as a Sith whether the Vader be a powerhouse or not could just as easily be given to any other Sith lord. Same could be said for the vast majority of characters we already have.

Balance of factions should come first. I don't think Vader would bring balance to the force, I mean faction,
but than again I don't think he would upset the balance of the force either Blink , I mean faction BigGrin

@dnemiller: That sounds a lot better then what I was trying to say.

I really feel there is no need for characters that already have heavy representation to be throwing around more ideas about. Just going over Knight of the Old Republic and Legacy comics and I see Sith that we can still tap into for use in the game. Ones that can easily do what a Vader could and even fill in niches that seem missing. There is even a mane character from the Vector series that has no representation (with out digging through my comics I can't think of her name), but she would be horribly unbalancing if made a fringe piece as she ought to be.

There seem to be enough references in the various stories to Vader behaving less like an Imperial agent, and more like a Sith that it would be reasonable to have a Vader for the Sith faction.

But, I think it would need to be different from any prior Vader in some way so that it doesn't feel like a reprint with the faction filed off. To that end, I'd suggest two things...

Make him a power house. Load him up with all of the dark side powers he's ever demonstrated. Most Vader figures specialize in a particular power, this figure should demonstrate all of them. This is Vader without the ability to rely on the might of the Empire behind him. On top of that, take advantage of the fact that the Sith faction doesn't have the same commanders that the Empire does, so can possibly better support a single strong figure without making the faction too powerful. In the way that Master Luke for the New Republic exemplifies the most powerful Jedi, Vader should probably be the most powerful Sith.

Second, consider having a side-changing or self-defeat ability on him. Stories that focus on him embracing the Dark Side usually focus on the internal struggle he's going through and will toy with the idea that he'll ultimately betray his master and turn from the Dark Side. Having that possibility in the figure, even if it's fairly remote, would go toward adding that flavor.
